NCC Halloween #4: BOO

D: I'm sorry for these too! I am pretty certain that I just was not patient enough and it's all my fault. I tried though... Sometimes it just doesn't come out =_=

Obvs, started with ILNP My Little Glacier. Over that, I put two coats of WarPaint Glow Turq, a glittery glow in the dark polish.

It totally did glow quite beautifully, but of course my camera just couldn't get into it.

I used white acrylic paint and tried to freehand some little ghosties over it. Unfortunately I don't think I waited long enough and the layers underneath seemed to be goopy. Also, it was really hard to paint properly and leave eyeholes (because I wanted them to be glowy). This whole thing just didn't work out but take a look.

Poor lumpy ghosties....

I think next time I would well, not leave this until the last minute, I might use actual nail polish and I will probably repaint the eyes over top despite that it would be more work to do so. The appearance would be much improved I'm sure.

Have you guys seen any cutie ghosts floating around? Wanna link me? =3

Oh, Happy Halloween!

Swatch: ILNP My Little Glacier

So I had a plan for this which didn't really turn out, and I had to do these on a time crunch so I missed the sunshine for my photos... plus my cuticles are in a terrible state, so basically I'm apologizing for this whole post. There are much better photos out there if you want to look at My Little Glacier for reals.

I did three coats, and the shift was extremely difficult to capture. Again, it might have been easier in the sunshine, and I might time travel and add pics later. Under a lamp, it actually looks like a very fine, a little faint linear holographic. In proper light, it turned purple at the edges, and my camera didn't like that.

PICSPAM :D

Oh hey those pics aren't so bad, are they? What do you think? It's gorgeous, just like the rest of this collection <3

Don't forget, ILNP  has a website and a Facebook and Barb is fab =3

What's your favourite so far? Do you know what's next?

NCC Halloween #3: Meow

As soon as I saw Mutagen in person, there's only one thing I could think of. I mean, the name and colour kind of implies a Frankenstein monster or something, but it almost glows so I went for something else...

All this is is ILNP Mutagen and some Sharpie. Easy peasy =3

I have three little kittens on each hand and a tail peeking out on my pinkie. To get there, they obviously walked across my thumb ;D You can see both hands above, do you think I'm getting more ambidextrous?

Here's a better view of the colour shift:

It looked sooo cool in real life =3

Also a reminder to keep your kitties indoors for the next little while, especially the black ones. Unsupervised kids (and adults, to be fair) are ignorant of right and wrong sometimes.

Swatch: ILNP Mutagen

Hello again! Hurrah, posts! I'm definitely procrastinating both tutorial prep and cleaning my disgusting room... But the lightbulb (the only one in my room) went out and I'm stuck sitting in the dark... I can't really do much about that. Anyhoo, Mutagen is the polish from ILNP's Ultrachrome collection that's said to be the weakest of the bunch, but still beautiful. Well, it's definitely beautiful but also from some angles it's downright pink. As in, the alternate colour is so strong that it stops looking green entirely. :o If that's not cool, I dunno man.

Anyway, I did 2 - 3 coats.

UNF that last photo is perfect if I do say so myself... I think I've said this already, but if you're going to get one thing from ILNP.com, it needs to be this collection. They're also on Facebook ;D

NCC Halloween #2: Creepy crawlies!

ILNP Birefringence + Billie Silver = GORGEOUSNESS. I really don't have much else to say about this. I'll let the photos do the talking ;D

What do you think? All it took was a striper brush actually! The colour combination is fantastic too, and even my off hand looked alright despite the obvious lack of dexterity.

I love Halloween, how about you? :D

Swatch: I Love Nail Polish Birefringence

WELL THAT WEEK GOT AWAY FROM ME. In case anyone was wondering, I took over one of the other TAs so I have twice as many hours per week and I don't think I was quite prepared for it. On top of that Pokemon X/Y came out and I'm still Mayor of Avaric in Animal Crossing New Leaf... My priorities are bad and I should feel bad... This should hold you for a while though.

Have you guys got enough of these by now? This is Birefringence, the best of the bunch I think and I did three coats to achieve this result. AND I got sunlight!

I didn't even have to try to get this to show up in the pictures. Now this is the only one I bought but I was lucky enough to win the rest from one of my awesomest friends, Harriet, who lives over at Nailhilism (the best name for a nail blog ever, imo) and you should go check it out because her hands are DIVINE.

As for ILNP, you can find her on Facebook and her website and she is a sweetheart too, so feel free to fall in love and give her money for her craft ;)

Swatch: I Love Nail Polish Ginger Spice Latte

And another :D This time, a glitter topper that just screams fall. ILNP is an amazing brand and just recently came out with the Ultrachrome collection (of which I am a proud owner, but I'll tell you about that later). They're also a pretty high end brand so I hadn't had a chance to try them yet (shipping, ugh). BUT, I jumped on the chance when it did come up and got a couple things for a great price on sale.

One of them was Ginger Spice Latte, which I layered over CagedBird Equinox in a glitter gradient fashion.

ILNP does the most amazing job with everything. The label is beautiful, they each come in their own little box and the cap is rubber-grippy! Barb is also just about the nicest person and very active on Facebook and her shop <3 Visit her, tell her I sent you, and look out on this blog for a little more of her stuff!

Swatch: CagedBird Lacquer Equinox

Hi everyone! Who else is happy for fall to be here? It's been nice weather lately so it's pretty awesome.

I have this really pretty and perfect colour for today. I'm pretty sure I got it last year at a Black Friday Sale at CagedBird Lacquer's Etsy shop. The bottles are suuuper cute, and you might remember that the other colour I got was Your Pal, M.M. Anyway, here we go.

Equinox takes two coats to become opaque, but I used three. It's a rosy copper colour with gold flecks in there. I'd call it a foil. The brush and bottle are also spot on and easy to use.

It's quite red-washed in these photos but it leans closer to orange for sure. It's overall lovely and I'm glad I bought it when I got the chance. The presentation on the bottles is ADORABLE too. The brand label is a bow, the cap is tied with a tiny ribbon and the name of the polish is in its own font along the cap as well. This brand is just doing a good job.

What do you think? Do you like when bottles come with little touches like ribbons around the cap?

Check out CagedBird on Facebook and Etsy <3

NCC Halloween #1

Alright! Halloween is one of my favourite things! I love dressing up, I love candy, I love attention, I love orange... we're just good to go, okay?

We're gonna start off tame though, because it is only the 6th... and obviously I set myself up well, and started with KB Shimmer Orange Pop <3 Now last year, when I still loved Julep and was getting boxes (I have skipped the last bajillion, nothing just looks that good...), they included a little extra in their box - some water decals from Alex Cole. Just a few, to try out.

Here's the sheet:

Orange is obviously for pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns, so I snipped out the two that were on there. I thought I was being all smart by leaving a little tab, but don't. I did one and then cut the other one down properly. Tweezers make it really easy to separate from the backing without wrecking it so don't worry.

The instructions say:
"Cut closely around decal. Float image facing up in small bown of water for 5-20 seconds. Carefully remove decal from backing with tweezers and place on nail. Apply top coat of choice."

Instead of a bowl I used my handy-dandy SFU Biology shot glass ;D It's the perfect size.

And now picspam:

You can see the bottom got a little eaten away... totally my fault, but it was the first one I applied EVER so forgive me pls.

Second one worked better, and I had totally dropped it in the water upside down and had to rescue it ~_~;
It worked out too though, look at his grin!

And then my topcoat. I chose WarPaint Mattify.

D: I LOVE IT THEY'RE SO SMILEY! What do you think? A lot of ladies are going all out this month, so get your clicky mice ready ;D
