Cuba Nails #4: Refreshing! (but fail)

Keeping hydrated on the beach was a big thing! It was an open bar but sometimes you just need something REFRESHING. This guy had a little stand a little ways back and for one peso he'd chop the top off a coconut and stick a straw in it =3

Not the coconuts that you're used to seeing but look how HUGE they are!

I tried for the traditional brown coconut type. I started with Joe Mocha. Because I wanted it to look fuzzy I thought one coat of Zoya Pixie Dust Godiva would do it.

It didn't quite work out. I think next time I'd try bar glitter or a fan brush.

Oh well. I thought I could finish it up with a white french tip to represent the delicious crisp white flesh =3 I used Julep Kate. Not the greatest but it did the trick.

It could have been much worse but I definitely didn't do Cuba what it's worth. Oh well. Have you guys tried coconut? (Honestly, it wasn't that great but it was refreshing.)

The PokeNail Challenge #7: Electric

Oh my gawsh, I'm actually going to post on this!

My favourite electric Pokemon is Pikachu. In fourth grade I bought this Pikachu stuffed toy. I carried it everywhere. It would sit in my desk at school and I would smile at it, I'd carry it around during breaks. It was an amazing friend.

The point is that I lurve my squeaky-chu!

That being said, we all need to grow up some day, in some ways. To represent that, I choose Raichu.

I started on yesterday's base of Rainbow Honey Bitty Love Bot. I tried to stick to polish for this. I used China Glaze Harvest Moon, Joe Fresh Mocha, Essence Wanna Be Your Sunshine, and Essence Black is Back and Ulta Snow White. I used sharpie for the tail and the glitter is a combination of Golden Rose 151 and China Glaze Electrify. Behold!

Well and there you have it. There might even be more like this soon, I certainly have the time to catch up =3

Swatch: Rainbow Honey XOXO and WarPaint Black Light

Now, beginning from yesterday's nails, I did as I always do with imperfect design execution: GLITTER.

I went out this night, with these nails and the intent was to match them to a certain dress. You'll observe the fabric below <3

I think it worked very well! The colours are there anyway =3

Since I was going out, I wanted to make some use of this black light topcoat I've had for a while. It actually hued everything a slight purple! There's an ultraviolet colouration to its edges in the bottle but I didn't think it would translate. The photo below shows the difference - Black Light polish on my thumb only. It was more noticeable in person of course. Sigh, cameras.

If you compare to yesterday, you can definitely see that these are lavender, and Joe Cement is not. It looks really nice though! Actually matches my dress pretty well.

What do you think? Do you guys have effect topcoats you like?

NCC May Stamping: IT WORKED.

This will be a two part post. The first is just to squee over stamping that worked even though it looks terrible.

The second part will show the dress I was trying to match =3

First though, let's show the stamping! I started with Joe Cement and Essie Pure Pearlfection.

And then I stamped using RA-108 and Essence Black is Back.

VICTORY.

Now leave me to my shame and go look at everyone else =P

Let It Snow #13: Winter Ombre/Gradient

It's the home stretch guys!

Starting with yesterday's combo of Orly Gogo and Cosmic Kiss, I used Joe Cement to stroke on a gradient. Because it's sheer too, trying to sponge it would be useless.

And then I matted it with Julep =3

I like it a lot! Check everyone else!

LIS#3 Ugly Christmas Sweater

Alright well, since I really wanted to do snowmen and I couldn't think of anything on a sweater that I wouldn't wear except snowmen, that's what we're doing =D

Starting with that Essence I Love Bad Boys and Essie Pure Pearlfection from my last post, I poked on some white acrylic paint, painted the hat and dotted the eyes and buttons with black acrylic and then gave them a little carrot nose with Essence Wake Up and arms with Joe Mocha. Ironically, my left hand turned out better than my right (AGAIN) because I found a nicer brush for it.

I may give up on flash. Trying again...

Left hand (non-dominant painted)
Except for that smudgy thumb, my left hand turned out great! I kind of like these guys, they are super cute xD

Check out everyone else's sweaters! Is it bad I would probably wear most of them?

Ugly Christmas Sweater Attempt #1

So my stepmom was in Romania for the last couple weeks (I didn't know O_o) and she came back with this whole outfit for me. It's completely matching, and I can't decide if I'm adorable or silly-looking.

I definitely feel a little silly in it...
It also makes me look a little fatter than I am (or I'm in denial).

Anyway, I decided to try to do them, but as you can see my heart wasn't really in it. The thumb was the first and what I really intended but my brushes aren't working well. I think I might cave and pay out for some good nail brushes. They kind of ended up looking like cookies with chocolate icing, but if a four year old had done it. I used Julep Otte and Joe Mocha.

Well this isn't anywhere up to par, but it makes me think of cookies. I'll try for a sweater again (probably just to do snowmen =D) but there you have it. For what it is. They can't all be masterpieces, right? xP

LiS#2 Inspired by a Holiday Movie/Song/Carol

So I took a day off today, did some Christmas shopping, spent some time with my Branden. When he went to work I went home and decided that the greatest thing I could do was torture myself with ambitious nail art. Of course I'm joking but man, I am NEVER doing a series of character faces again. Sorry =P

The item I chose is a movie, and a song. I don't know what the difference between a carol and a song is but this is probably that too.

My all time favourite Christmas ANYTHING is Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer! It's not Christmas until I've sat down wrapped in a blanket with some hot chocolate and watched it. Five times in a row. (Not really but that's how it ends up xD.) When Build-A-Bear first brought out the Clarice toy, I SNATCHED THAT UP.

LOOK AT HOW CUTE SHE IS
Okay! So I used a TON of colours. I'm just gonna list them and show you the pictures...

All those colours. I used them ALL.
In alphabetical order
China Glaze: Harvest Moon
Essence: Wanna Be Your Sunshine
Essie: Pure Pearlfection
Golden Rose: 187
Julep: Hayden, January, Marisa, Otte
KleanColor: Gold Bright, Silver Star
Joe Fresh: Cement
Nyx: Crystal, Gold Sparkle
Revlon: Get Reddy
Sinful Colors: Out of this World
Ulta: Snow White
and I sharpie-ed the eyes =)

I used THIS WEBSITE as a reference.

These are pre-cleanup. What a mess x_x

Post clean-up

And my thumbs are my favourite.
NOW KISS.
=P

I learned a lot from the rest of the ladies in this challenge too! So many new Christmas stories and songs =D
