Dress matching!

Earlier this month was Branden's cousin's wedding! I got a new dress for the occasion and obviously needed some matching nails.

It gave me the excuse to swatch RH Charaxes, which is what I started with. I freehanded half moon's near my cuticles with Julep Leah.

I initially wanted to keep this very simple so my next step was to dot using Zoya Solange (to match the neckline of the dress) which resulted in this:

This wasn't quite enough because the pattern on the dress is quite busy. So, tried again, this time with the saran wrap technique. I used Cecile 17 mostly and went over it again with Charaxes. I tried to dab on some China Glaze Fast Track but it was too transparent. Boo.

PS: I originally wanted to use bubble wrap to get the sort of effect you would with a straw but it didn't work so... learn from me.

It looks pretty fantastic. I reapplied the Zoya Solange dots too.

Dress fabric cameo!

I am super impressed! From far away it matches really well and I am very happy! Close up it's a little bit uglier, especially since I only topcoated before the textured Solange dots and they were the first things to smudge as soon as I had photos.. OH WELL.

I got some good wear out of this design too! Not only did I get to wear the dress to the wedding, but Branden had a work function dinner cruise where I got lots of compliments on both my dress and my matching nails! It was awesome <3 I love when people notice :3

Here's the full dress, apparently taken with a smudgy camera...

And just to give you some idea of the skirt.

PS, I got this dress through my local Avon representative (hereisherlink)! It was just under $60 and worth every penny!

Swatch: Rainbow Honey Sea Star

Hi everyone! There's some big things happening in Sharra-land including valiant attempts to make our new apartment in the image we want it to be before moving in so there hasn't been too much time for nail polish... I have been sitting on a post which is waiting for certain photos. To tide us all over until that eventuality I have one of the adorable glitters from my last Rainbow Honey.

This is one coat of Sea Star, some dabbing, over China Glaze Fast Track which I thought looked like the sandy bottom of the sea.

I love this combination. It was very sparkly and the mix of blue, yellow and neon pink (STARS) was perfect. It was a good neutral base with some POP.

This is the last post with my blackberry camera by the way! I just got a new iPod Touch with a 5MP camera (the same as bb) and I'm going to find a watermarker and hopefully start posting directly.

I also recently got Instagram! There's not many nail posts yet but there will be! Follow me here <3 at alira23_

Swatch: Rainbow Honey Charaxes

We're going back in time now! RH Charaxes is from the Midnight Garden Collection and it is a blue creme, darker in hue than Prussian Sky and missing the silvery flecks mixed in. It is an eye catching colour and was opaque in ONE COAT.

That is a single coat, peeps. Dang.

Swatch: Rainbow Honey Work It Out

Rainbow Honey sustains me.

This is another sample from their Summer Mixtape collection, the entirety of which should be making it to my door soon (very soon!), a bright coral pink and it is glorious. I am so glad they picked this out for me because it is nothing like anything I have (I'm not huge on the pink side of the spectrum).

These photos show the colour a little cooler than it actually is, but the brightness is the same. It is two coats to opacity and one more to be safe.

That last photo is quite accurate. The shine on this is without topcoat btw. It's gorgeous. If you haven't already picked up the Summer Mixtape Collection it's not Rainbow Honey's website and you can get 20% off your entire purchase with the code MIXTAPE20. US Postage is also free after $50, and Canadian after $75. Leave me comments on what you got!

Swatch: Rainbow Honey I Wanna Get Better

Hello everyone! Voting is still up, check it out plstthx!

Today I have one of Rainbow Honey's new Summer Mixtape collection polishes called I Wanna Get Better which I receieved free in exchange for my honest review.

It's a peachy crelly full of neon glitter and little stars. It built up extremely well and I used four coats but it was good in 3.

The colour isn't my favourite next to my skin tone and I'm not sure why because in the sun and at a distance it looks absolutely chic but I'm not feeling it. This may be a colour that designates to my toes. I also think it would be amazing on someone with darker skin than mine.

Because I for some reason didn't get very many of those little purple glitters I decided to accent the orange with some purple. RH Viola (yet to be swatched) was the exact same colour! Unfortunately due to the UV capability of my camera it captures more blue than it actually is. It's a warm neon purple in real life. Anyway, here's my taping...

I am not the best at abstract-y designs. I finished up by mattifying.

Not gonna lie, looks pretty nice.

That last photo is the best I think. Viola is still too blue-hued but matte was definitely the way to go!

What do you think? How do I do better tape manis D:

Check out Rainbow Honey on Facebook and their website. Currently for the Summer Mixtape collection you can get 20% off your entire order until August 18 using the code MIXTAPE20. Get some pretty colours!
