Let It Snow #9 Snowmen

I totally screwed myself guys, because I did snowmen for my ugly sweater nails when I got excited about my new Essence I Love Bad Boys from Chester's Drawers' giveaway =)

Anyway, I started with the Julep and Glitzology combo from yesterday <3 I then just took Ulta Snow White and did my tips, then poked some half finished snowmen. Covered it in Seche and done =) It was pretty simple, but it reminds me of quiet romantic nights in the snow. I hope you like it!

Swatch: Glitzology Snow Day

So waaaay back last year, I hit a bunch of Black Friday sales on Etsy and Glitzology was one of my hauls. I got four minis for something like $15? One of those glitters was Snow Day, which just looks like different bits of white but actually includes some iridescent blue/green stuff too! It is BEAUTIFUL.

After I euthanized my poor Growlithe (still in mourning) I snipped down to shorties and put down Julep Marisa for a base and swiped on coat of Glitzology Snow Day over it.

I am so enamoured. It's pretty and it may help me get over my poor Growlithe <3

What do you think? It was Lacquer Lad who found Glitzology first in my follow-web <3 Are you gonna go look too?

I am awesome =D (apparently)

You understand right? Just look at them <3 *melts*

Anyway, as you may know, I met my American doppleganger in Nichole from Adventures of the Nail Friends except she is an amazing artist.

First, she drew me:

I know this is exactly what you all think of me, don't even lie. She is amazeballs xP

She also gave me this:

This is a NO RULES award. Because there are just too many rules sometimes (and I broke them all anyway).

So there's some awesome going around, and right now I just want to give it to all my Pokemon Nail peeps.

Here's AotNF original post.

And you guys should check all these awesome people out, okay? And if you wanna take this award and give it out, just send Nichole some traffic for it, okay? =)

Pokemon Nail Challenge #2: FIRE

I'm really lucky for a lot of reasons. To jump right into it, one of them is because I get to do my FAVOURITE POKEMON EVAR right now. Right. Now.

Orly Cha Cha Cha and some acrylic paint....

heehee, any guesses?

Before Seche...

After Seche..

So yeah, I LOVE Arcanine. It's super cute in all the new games, even if the original design (see Pokemon card) wasn't super endearing. But lookit him! He looks so CUDDLY.

So on my right hand is my guinea pig hand (I'm left-handed) and I got what looks like a widdle Growlithe while on my left I tried to make it look more grown up and get an Arcanine. I think I kind of succeeded to we'll say this post is for Growlithe/Arcanine, seeing as they kinda look the same anyway. I wish I coulda put his tail on my nails somewhere but alas, can't have it all.

I really wish I had more to say about this, but I do a lot of squee-ing over my Arcanines (Blaze in HeartGold, Tiger in Platinum, Toby in Black2...) so it's kind of dilute. I wub them all though.

Nichole had the idea to sketch the Pokemon she was doing and I liked it, so I'm doing to anyway.

=) The left is more recent, though I think I like the right one better. Drawing Arcanine really drives home that I imagine him with a big lion's mane and akita paws. Tiger puppy <3 Mwah! Check out everyone else's! Fire was a very well represented type in generation 1!

Swatch: Orly Cha Cha Cha

Side Note: The Cha Cha is one of my favourite dances to dance.

I recently picked up a bunch of minis (if you remember from my OPI I Vant to blah blah blah post) and one of them was this!

Orly Cha Cha Cha is a three-coater. You can still see some VNL but it's not really bothering me (surprising). It's a very, very bright orange shimmer and it was shiny before the Seche. Formula was amazing, like Orlys are aannddd.... first pictures are without Seche, then Seche. Can you even tell?

In case you were wondering, I do not believe this to be anything like China Glaze Riveting, which has a gold shimmer. This one is just shimmery, no underlying colour to it.

Any guesses on what's coming up? =D

Baking time: Special K Treats

Contrary to the name of the post, this is not about drugs. Special K is a cereal brand and most of the iterations are DELICIOUS. Recently Branden's brother came home with a little card with a recipe and whipped some up and today I paid it back and made another batch. It literally takes ten minutes.

There's the little card with the recipe. He got it from one of his coworkers =)

For ease I transcribed the photo:
2 and a quarter cups of Special K (the CEREAL)
Half cup smooth peanut butter
1 package of chocolate chips (equivalent to about 2 cups)

Melt peanut butter and chocolate chips together (low heat). When all melted, remove from heat. Stir in Special K. Drop by teaspoon onto waxed paper-lined cookie sheet.

This recipe works well with all flavours of chocolate chips - milk, semi sweet, butterscotch, etc
This is after the dropping onto cookie sheet. The best part is cleaning out the pan you use. I recommend using a rubber spatula to mix, so that the chocolate chips don't end up burning at the bottom. Keep it moving or it'll get too hot! It only takes about five minutes to be melted and another minute or two to get rid of all the lumps. Hurt my arm though, I need more push ups!

After dropping, stick them in the fridge to harden them up real quick...

I eat these SO FAST it's disgusting. They taste SO good. I apparently really like chocolate and peanut butter. Reese lied in their commercials, it's exactly the same.

Try it and tell me how you like them! If you use a different cereal, let me know what works! The Special K I used was basically Rice Krispies so try those too =D

What are your favourite easy treats to make? Tell me in the comments! <3

A hair post!

I'm not sure how many of you care, but I wanted to talk about my hair for a bit. I've been trying some new stuff lately, and taking more time with it all that I thought maybe you'd like to see, especially since everyone seems to like curls (including me!).

My hair is naturally a little wavy, and if I play it right after a shower, I get four ringlets on either side of my face, while the back is a little straighter. As my hair gets longer and heavier, it straightens out a bit. It's also quite fluffy at the ends, and I'm prone to split ends.

The easiest way that I've found to curl my hair is braiding it after it's wet. This lets it dry slowly which makes it look really soft and smooth while it's being curled. Usually I start on one side of my head and french braid around to the back and over the other shoulder. I usually twist and pin it in a bun on the side of my head from there because it's a thin little tail. I wear it in the braid for a whole day and the next day when I wake up I take the braid out.

Here's what you get when you do that:

The other way to do this is from a youtube tutorial that my friend showed me one day after she showed up with fantabulous amazing curls. Skip to 3:33 to bypass the talking

Like she suggested, I usually put my hair up and wear it like that for a day.

I found that rose headpiece when I was in Istanbul ^^ It's over the headband.
The first time I did this, I slept in it and the headband was too low over my forehead. I had a red line across my head for almost two days xP

It's there, though it was more visible in person...
The second time I had the headband farther back, and I got this:
yay!
Okay, and the third time I did it illustrates how taking different sized pieces to tuck in can change your result a LOT. I woke up like this one day...

I looked in the mirror and squeaked! It was so surprising!! WHAT DO YOU DO WITH ALL OF THAT, KAILA?? I added some water and some product and managed to tame it down to this:

And that is MUCH better. Plus there was a giant purple bow in my hair ^^

The next day it was a little calmer, and I ran a brush through it =) This is a lot more what I expected to have the day before haha...

So there you go. Have you guys tried the headband method? How did that turn out for you? Are you guys interested in hair product? I don't use a lot of it, but I can do a pretty good comparison of some hair serums if you'd like. Let me know in the comments!

Let It Snow #8 Icicles

So I started with OPI I Vant To Be A-Lone Star! I knew I wanted subtlety in this one because icicles are so delicate so I thought I would just try mattifying icicles onto it. I used my Julep Suede Matte Topcoat.

Can you see it? This was definitely too subtle for me. Gah! SO I looked in my drawer for something that would still be subtle, but would still be noticeable and Del Sol Superhero caught my eye! It's perfect! It's not even opaque for like six coats!

I started by using one of my paint brushes to colour in the matte and then gave up and just used the nail polish brush itself. I don't think I've mentioned it before but the brush is actually cut at an angle, which made this exercise MUCH easier.

At this point I decided I didn't even need the matted part  for anything and covered it with Seche.

The blue-ness definitely stands out more and I love it so much. I may go look for this OPI in full size because it is really beautiful. I'm going to have to find some nice clothes to match this to I love it so much. Oh! And then I went into the sun =D

It changed to purple a little bit =) It was a very thin bit so I likes it ^^

Now next week is where I screwed myself, because I did my Ugly Sweater Nails with Snowmen on them. If you have any ideas, please please tell me! <3 In the meantime, check out everyone else's icicles! If you love glitter, this was the week for you!
