Tiffany's 600th post celebration nail art (Watercolour)

So today  I have some festive nail art to share with you!

I wanted to do something bright and colorful and kinda fun so I decided to try my hand at watercoloring. So for this technique you "water" down your polishes with acetone to give them that sheer, build-able effect. I used a combination of just painting with a paint brush, splotching colors and then quickly flicking my hand to create runs and flicking the paintbrush to create speckles.

The colors I used were: Nicole by OPI Lifesaver (mint), Nicole by OPI Find Your Passion (coral) , Rainbow Honey Tessie (lilac) and Rainbow Honey Cymbidium (orchid). I liked it just as is, so I took some pictures at this stage.

Afterwards I added star shaped decals form the Born Pretty Store and Sephora X Wham (white multi hex) and Sally Hansen Disco Ball (translucent glitter) to create a kind of milky way galaxy look.

Nail Art: Winter Art with OPI Snow Globtrotter (T)

Hi guys! So on Thursday I showed you the first of the two new OPI iridescent glitter mixes for the holidays, Comet in the Sky (here). This one is the second, Snow Globtrotter.  I decided to change it up and instead of showing Snow Globtrotter over another two colours, I thought I would do some nail art with it!!

Ok! So here's a break down of what I did (very easy to do btw):

1) 1 coat of OPI's I saw...U saw... We saw... Warsaw. (its a one-coater navy blue creme)
2) Sephora X Oh! Zone (scattered holo top coat) concentrated at the nail tip and dragged down in a gradient)
3) Sally Hansen Disco Ball ( small iridescent glitter mix) also put in a gradient concentrated at the nail tip
4) 1 coat of OPI Snow Globetrotter
5) Seche vite
6) Water decal snowflakes
7) Second layer of top coat to fully smooth everything out!!

I got this huge sheet of snowflake water decals from The Born Pretty Store last year, because let's be frank, snowflakes are a bitch to freehand! They're tiny, intricate and must be symmetrical. Too hard!!!

I'm a little irritated with the snowflakes, they smeared when I put the top coat on... I completely ruined my thumb and my middle finger on my swatching hand. :/ Today I went back and tried to cover the mess up with a few more glitters from Snow Globetrotter.... Idk if it looks better or worse.. Anyways, if you put the top coat on really quickly with as few of strokes as possible they do survive.

Tiff's Guest Blog Series: Ghostly Tree Silhouette

Hey guys! Halloween is finally here YAY! Which means my week long marathon of posting every day is finally coming to an end! AND I think I've saved the best for last!!

 So this nail art was one I was actually considering entering in the Nail Polish Canada contest, but I went with the clown over it because I wanted to push out of my typical "pretty" Halloween style. I know a few people I've shown this too thought I should have entered this one instead, but oh well! I stand by my creepy clown :)

So for this nail art I used a TON of colours to make the background and I have a picture at the end that shows them all, the names and a small description so you can check that out if you're curious. Basically I painted on a navy blue base colour, sponged on a purple and a turquoise to make a kinda/sorta ombre,  painted on a flakie turquoise to add a greeny glow, then a scattered holo and a white glitter mix for stars.

Technique-wise I used the saran wrap transfer method again and I actually remembered to take a photo of the decal before I cut it up and put it on the nails (its at the end of the post also). I wanted the picture to be continuous across the nails so the decal is actually one single long image (except the thumb) which I divided up and transferred to each nail.
