Nail Drama: Seriously?

I want to address the badges going on in my sidebar, because I'm sure people will take it upon themselves to misconstrue it. First, I thought the clean up thing was hilarious and I think the badge is cute. I understand that some people got offended and others reacted horrendously and there's this big bullying thing going on right now. I, personally, would be embarrassed to blog pictures where I painted my entire fingertip rather than just the nail but I am not going out of my way to tell other people they shouldn't. I am far from perfect, and I am not better than anyone else either. My pictures are also crap sometimes.

To counteract the scape-goating going on with the Clean Up Coalition (which is still funny regardless of some people being idiots) I've added the anti-bullying badge, because I completely do not condone bullying. But I've also experienced scapegoating and passive-aggressive hits and I don't think abandoning Ashley from Plump and Polished is the right way for me to go. As far as I know, none of the ladies involved that I know and love have gone out of their way to attack anybody.

There's two sides to every story, and then there's the truth. Make your own decisions and whatever you think, don't go out hurting other people.

These two can co-exist. Check out Ashley's rebuttal. She's taken way too much abuse for this, NONE of which she deserves.

When one African steals, do you turn around and say, "BURN THEM ALL, you blacks better clean up your act!" I hope not. That's racism. This is related.

And to inject some of my personality into this... Calm your shit. Jesus. I can't believe this is even a thing and this will be the last you hear about it from me. If you want to discuss, this post is where you should do it and I will be moderating. If you're out of line, you're out. I'm not going to tolerate attacks and bullying either.

  1. I believe what people got so up in arms about was that the whole thing was "started to make fun of one particular person" (thats what I heard but do NOT know for sure) Although that was not stated or hinted at in the original post. IF that was the real reason then the people who joined wouldnt know based off of what was written. IF what I have haard through the grapevine is true than I have to admit Im dissapointed. Too many people got jumped on about this for the wrong reasons in my humble opinion. I know I have put more effort into my clean up after seeing comments on others pictures. And thats mainly because I want to have a successful page of my own. Mine are not perfect and I would never tell someone else that they arent either. I just wish this whole thing would blow over and people would grow up. Get the facts and then if they have an issue discuss it with the person they have the issue with. (And not publicly on their wall)

    1. I don't know anything about the making fun of any person because nobody was named in public, so what does it matter? Nobody attacked anybody else. I snark about things and other people ALL the time. You'd never know from the public face. I agree that it needs to blow over and people need to be more straightforward about what and who they have problems with and deal with it quietly. Thanks for your input!

  2. I also heard that it was directed at one particular person, which is so not cool, but I think most of the ladies who commenting supporting it were NOT aware of that.

I'm with you, Sharra, in that I think the whole thing has gotten way out of hand. But, if I'm being totally totally honest, the whole "Clean Up or Die" thing has made me afraid to post! I feel so stupid saying that, but it's true. I look at my photos and manis and feel like I've cleaned up well enough, but I'm nervous now that there is this "group" out there scrutinizing my clean-up jobs along with everyone else's. It's taken a bit of the fun out of posting because I'm afraid I'm going to get attacked! :( I know it was meant to be funny and a joke, but I'm just sharing how it's affected me personally - which may or may not make sense to other people, but that's just me!
I hope it blows over soon! I love this community, and I hate to see it upended by something like this! <3 you Sharra! Your post was very well said. I love that you have both banners up to show that it's not black and white, you can have a bit of both! :)

    1. That was not the intentions of the group whatsoever. No one has commented on anyone's nails. If I find out that someone has, they will promptly be removed from the group.

    2. I appreciate the response Ashley. Just sharing what I heard. It's great to hear that you are really on top of it and are not tolerating any meanness or offensive comments :)

    3. Don't stop posting, Kelly, I love reading your blog!! <33!!! I have NEVER noticed a mess on your pretty fingers unless you specifically mentioned it in the post and then I look really hard and I'm like, "Oh, yeah, I guess maybe?" and even if I did, psht, who cares! Lots of people are gonna love what you're doing no matter how you're doing it I mean, look at my 36 followers. That's like a whole classroom!! And I love you =P I'll even do a sloppy nail post for you if it'll make you feel better xP If I notice you're not posting because of this, I will find you, and I will paint you. (Rawr, I'm so threatening! <3)

Ashley, I'm really glad you didn't back down and immediately succumb to the sneak attack. It takes bravery to stand up and say, "Look, that is NOT what I said!" It really sucks when people take something the wrong way, and others take it to mean they represent every one of us. You're still hilarious, B4CC is still hilarious, and nobody's gonna put words in MY mouth either.

Those people who are putting this banner over their faces and going out of their way to be snarky bitches were already doing it before. They, or other people, have just grouped them together and slapped B4CC on it to make it look like an epidemic with a source. And then they step on anyone who has any sympathy, as if we're all the same.

ANYWAY. After all that, I love everyone, really, and if I don't, I'm not following. Being a bully is so consuming. Real people with lives don't have time for that garbage, passive aggressive or otherwise.

  3. The whole thing is very high school imo, I just stay out of it. As grown women (well most of us anyway) we should be over this sort of stuff. And if there is a child of 13-14 with dirty cuticles - just kindly mention that there are ways to clean up that mess.

    1. Or don't, who cares, right? I agree, I just had to address it because I joined in before it blew up.

  4. This is exactly how I feel about it. I just quietly watched while the whole saga unfolded and thought it was pretty sad that all these girls were acting righteous while targeting one blogger. It's all just opinions, take them with a grain of salt, right? Anyway, I just checked Plump and Polished's blog and she seems to have gotten a lot more followers so it all worked out in the end!

    1. Haha yeah, not everyone's a finger-pointer. Also, the ones who usually cause trouble are the anonymous, which bloggers NEVER are. Everything you're saying will come back to you if you have a public face like this so everyone behaves! Usually. Until people decide that the terrible-anon is OBVIOUSLY that non-anon who said that thing once somewhere. *rolls eyes* Common sense, so rare it's a superpower! PS Thanks for the followwww <33333333333333333
