Let It Snow #15: Longing for Summer

THE LAST IS NIGH. This is my last item for the Let It Snow Challenge =) Summer and nail polish makes me think of neons and my colour changers from Del Sol. Since it hasn't been a neon sort of mood, I came up with an idea to combine my Del Sols.

Starting with yesterday's Del Sol Secret Crush, I half-mooned with Del Sol Chicky.

That was easy. Then I took my trusty dotting tool and made little squigglies underneath the moons.
Sunshine =D This is me trying to get a decent photo...

 BUT THEN THE SUN!

The colour really does change! I am much more impressed with Secret Crush now than I was. It's hard to account for the colour change but it really is much more than subtle! I like my design! It looks hot, which is exactly what summer is all about, right?
Now here's the awesome part. This is my other hand. Only one half was facing the sunshine, so only half changed colour. I love it!

You can really see it in the thumb above =D

I love this! Do you guys have any other ideas for combining the Del Sol's?

Lookit everyone else! Makes me crave ice cream <3

Swatch: Del Sol Secret Crush

A colour changer! It's been sunny (though windy) here lately so that's what I based today's choice on <3

First up, swatches in the shade. It's a pretty orangey-pink with a little bit of a dark blue/purple shimmer in it. As with my other Del Sols, it's quite sheer, so this is 5-6 thin coats. They each dried very quickly though, so it didn't bother me.

You can see here it started to change colour.

This last photo seems to be the extent of it, but you must also remember that it is only the beginning of spring and the hot sun might do better. It didn't turn the dark purple that the bottle seems to imply, more of a soft mauve colour.

I'm not impressed but this is not a bad colour, and I quite like how it looks. Have you got any Del Sols yet? What's your favourite?

Let It Snow #8 Icicles

So I started with OPI I Vant To Be A-Lone Star! I knew I wanted subtlety in this one because icicles are so delicate so I thought I would just try mattifying icicles onto it. I used my Julep Suede Matte Topcoat.

Can you see it? This was definitely too subtle for me. Gah! SO I looked in my drawer for something that would still be subtle, but would still be noticeable and Del Sol Superhero caught my eye! It's perfect! It's not even opaque for like six coats!

I started by using one of my paint brushes to colour in the matte and then gave up and just used the nail polish brush itself. I don't think I've mentioned it before but the brush is actually cut at an angle, which made this exercise MUCH easier.

At this point I decided I didn't even need the matted part  for anything and covered it with Seche.

The blue-ness definitely stands out more and I love it so much. I may go look for this OPI in full size because it is really beautiful. I'm going to have to find some nice clothes to match this to I love it so much. Oh! And then I went into the sun =D

It changed to purple a little bit =) It was a very thin bit so I likes it ^^

Now next week is where I screwed myself, because I did my Ugly Sweater Nails with Snowmen on them. If you have any ideas, please please tell me! <3 In the meantime, check out everyone else's icicles! If you love glitter, this was the week for you!

Swatch: Del Sol Island Fever and Cagedbird Lacquer Your Pal, M.M.

Sorry for the lack of posts!! I've got a combo for you today, and another couple posts in the works after this. It's Christmas crunch time, and I still have nail designs I want to do!

So for today I started with Del Sol Island Fever, which is a light green that's supposed to turn dark green in the sun. Unfortunately it's winter in Vancouver which means clouds and precipitation ALL THE TIME. That means no colour change pictures for now. Dang.

I did about five coats, as this colour is very sheer but the payoff was fantastic! I was not expecting such a gorgeous iridescent colour!

After Seche (a recent acquisition from Winners for $!8 =D)

I wish I'd gotten some sun so I could see the colour change but this is pretty fantastic on its own. I can imagine it going great over a pastel or neon green for a subtle change and in-your-face sheen in the summer for when I'd prefer not to wait out five coats.

This was the base for a new matte glitter from Cagedbird Lacquer that I nabbed on Black Friday.

I love it so much! I wish I'd seen it over the dark green sunlight colour but oh well! It was a great Christmas colour. I got one spontaneous compliment while I was out shopping ^_^

That's all for now! Since this is a late 2AM post, you'll get another one later today so that on Christmas I can post =D

I hope you guys are all ready! It's the day after tomorrowwwww~~

PS: Seche Vite stinks like a mofo. Nobody warned me! Ugh.

    FiA#8 Halloween!

This is a double-whammy nail art post (and therefore pic-heavy... sorry). It's taking care of my Halloween challenge item and also being entered into a nail art contest! I may do another Halloween manicure though, so keep your eyes open.

So I started with Del Sol Superhero on my right hand and Del Sol Chicky on my left, I did a gradient with the opposite colour on each hand. Because these are both really sheer, I brushed it on in layers instead, putting a coat down from 3/4s of the way from the tip to the tip, then from 1/2 way, then just glooping a bit on the tips themselves to get an opaque colour. Take a look.

    Outside!
I only got a picture of one hand outside because I couldn't get the other to change. Dunno what's up with today, isn't there supposed to be MORE UV light when it's cloudy?

You can see the colour comparison of fingers vs thumb

     It kinda pinked...

Anyway, the next step is to add a glow in the dark polish (WarPaint Glow-Turq) of course! You can't see much on the nails but it's kinda sparkly. My cell phone couldn't capture it in the dark, but that's coming, don't worry!

And now for the ART part of this post.

On my thumb, I used my LA Colors black striper. For the rest of my fingers, I used my trusty Sharpie.
    Cemeteryyyy (What's on the pinkie??)
     Omg ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE AAHHH~~~
That's a hand coming out of the ground on the middle finger... Also, this was with my non-dominant hand
I sat on this post for DAYS waiting for the sun to come out and give me a decent colour change but alas =( And of course the day after I took it off, the sun poked out gloriously bright for almost the whole day. SIGH.

Good thing I could get some glow pics!

What do you thiiinkkk??? =D It's not as terrible as it could have been lol! And yes, that totally is a zombie pulling himself out of his grave on the pinkie!

Check all the others! Halloween is so much fun!
