So I matched my nails!

I started with RH 488nm and then sponged on Cecile 77, Julep Marisa and RH Tessie.

I topped everything with RH Diamond dust which gave it a really pretty sparkle...

And then I basked in the attention for a week :D

Dress matching!

Earlier this month was Branden's cousin's wedding! I got a new dress for the occasion and obviously needed some matching nails.

It gave me the excuse to swatch RH Charaxes, which is what I started with. I freehanded half moon's near my cuticles with Julep Leah.

I initially wanted to keep this very simple so my next step was to dot using Zoya Solange (to match the neckline of the dress) which resulted in this:

This wasn't quite enough because the pattern on the dress is quite busy. So, tried again, this time with the saran wrap technique. I used Cecile 17 mostly and went over it again with Charaxes. I tried to dab on some China Glaze Fast Track but it was too transparent. Boo.

PS: I originally wanted to use bubble wrap to get the sort of effect you would with a straw but it didn't work so... learn from me.

It looks pretty fantastic. I reapplied the Zoya Solange dots too.

Dress fabric cameo!

I am super impressed! From far away it matches really well and I am very happy! Close up it's a little bit uglier, especially since I only topcoated before the textured Solange dots and they were the first things to smudge as soon as I had photos.. OH WELL.

I got some good wear out of this design too! Not only did I get to wear the dress to the wedding, but Branden had a work function dinner cruise where I got lots of compliments on both my dress and my matching nails! It was awesome <3 I love when people notice :3

I'm sure most of you have heard by now the story of Talia Joy Castellano, youtube make up guru and Honorary Cover Girl, a thirteen year old that battled cancer for 7 years before ceding defeat on July 16, 2013. I didn't know much about her, but a loss is always a loss and you all know I have a soft (hard?) spot for cancer.

Yes, she was actually this adorable. Here's the short version: LINK

Out of respect for her, social media has mobilized to honour her memory by painting our nails in mint green, in reference to her last instagram post.

I started with two coats of Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet (which is worse than I remember). I then took my new fan brush from bornprettystore.com's 15 brush set (for $6!!!!) and brushing on Cecile 77.

That wasn't quite enough for me, so I added a half moon with Gosh Holographic Hero.

I topped it off with China Glaze Make a Spectacle (to cover my fan brush ineptitude).

Swatch: RAINBOW HONEY!!! (20% Cooler)

SPARKLY! RAINBOW! Omg I'm dying. I love 20% Cooler! Lookit it! Rainbow glitter of different sizes =) (over Ulta Bam-blue-zled). It was nice and not a hungry glitter.

The glitter is suspended in a clear base with this hidden blue shimmer.

It's incredibly gorgeous, but impossible to photograph.

So you'll just have to take my word for it.

Unfortunately Bam-blue-zled decided to not dry, even after 14 hours (it had the consistency of sticky tac) so I pulled it all off and tried again, this time with Cecile 77.

Okay so 20% cooler is also quick dry, which I couldn't tell over Ulta because that one didn't dry at all (screw you Ulta). AND dried flat. I had a couple places where the glitter was pokey but nothing a little prod wouldn't fix. I used a couple layers of Ulta X-dry (which bubbles sometimes) but you can probably use a non-quick dry topcoat to smooth it all out in one go.

So Rainbow Honey retails for $10 for 15ml and $5 for 7ml at their website. The Equestria Collection (inspired by My Little Pony!!) has 8 gorgeous polishes in it and just so you know, shipping to Canada is a ridiculous $9.95 so maybe pool with people and make a bigger order =) If you do that, it's definitely worth it.

Swatch: Cecile 77

I'm a sucker for minty greens. I just keep buying them, regardless of whether I have something similar already or not. One such purchase (and one of the better ones), is Cecile 77, which I picked up in Istanbul. It was quite a steal. On top of being a fabulous colour, it was 0.99TL which translates to about 60 cents Canadian at the time. Hah! Love it! Here's the pics:

Nice right?

This one is actually unique compared to the other ones like this I have. You can't see it in the bottle, but on the nail it has this lovely hidden shimmer. It's also SUPER quick dry and has yet to chip after 3 days. It's opaque in two coats but I had bald spots on a couple nails so I added another. I had a couple issues with bubbles because they're impossible to pop or brush off once they're on the nail. I checked the brush every time. I also don't know if ALL Cecile polishes are bubbly, or because mine traveled from Istanbul to Vancouver over the course of two weeks.

My verdict is that I LOVE this. Definitely worth it. Super quick dry, and I forgive it the bubbles because it traveled a long way with me. <3! It's also gonna be the base for something fantabulous ;)

Nail wheels!!

So clearly I organized by colour, and I definitely do not have a collection like some people I follow (Here's lookin' at you Trace) but it made me really happy to swatch it all anyway =D

Red/Pink

So apparently my lighting was bad because those first three look way more similar in the photograph than they really are.

Orange!

 I love orange!

Yellow!

 Soooo many yelloooows. Tivoli looks really brownish, but it's pretty burnished gold. Del Sol changes colour to pink in the sun and I will have Julep Daisy to add to this wheel sometime soon! =D

Greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen

 KleanColor Bikini Green and WarPaint Bad Apple look really similar, but the finish on the WarPaint is not shiny and it glows under blacklight. However, I could definitely live without KCBG if anybody wants to give it a good home. Maybe if you'd follow me I'd be motivated to do a giveaway. I'm certainly making enough pageviews a day.

Bluuue

 I love blue. I think it's my favourite colour now thanks to Branden's pretty eyes. Anyway, I can't believe how Blue Me Away makes Let's Get Lost look sad. Can't waaaait to wear it >_<

Purple

 I also love purple. With both green and purple, I didn't have to look at the name on the back of the wheel to know what the colour/brand was. Hah.

Brown/Grey

Chiiinnaaaa Glaaaaaaaze (Dress Me Up). And Harvest Moon. Can't wait!

Black

Revlon has tiny blue microglitter you can't see, and usually Revlon requires a topcoat and really shines after getting it. It was also interesting to see that Joe Twilight and KC Chunky HB are different. I just thought Joe was a crap knockoff, but it's a flakey with more green, if not a strong reflective attribute.

So, does anything look interesting? Any close-up requests?
