Colour + Stamping fail

So this entire attempt was a fail, starting with me assuming Julep Pippa was darker than it is.

For some reason it dried to every ridge on my nail.
Sorry for all the weird colour changes.
I mattified it, hoping it would get better. It didn't.

Then I tried stamping using my new Red Angel Plates and Del Sol Superhero

It's not TERRIBLE but the colour is still atrocious!

Glitter fixes everything right? (Golden Rose)

Mattify again. Glitter lost all holo. SIGH.

This is the colour shift. No, that's not my camera, the blue turned purple.
Unfortunately there hasn't been any sun for a week, so the shift isn't as amazing as it could be. I'm currently in the process of trying this Matte Magic thing again, so hopefully this one turns out better. Wish me luck!

Sunny Saturdays =D

So I had a fabulous day downtown yesterday. Ania from Anabelle's Make-Up who you can follow on Twitter told me that Shoppers Drug Mart started carrying essence in Canada! Oh man, I got so excited you have no idea. I decided I might as well go in while I was downtown. The woman there lied straight to my face, saying they didn't carry that brand. Turns out for some reason only our ghetto store in the suburbs carries them. OH WELL.

The real reason to go downtown yesterday was poutine.

Dunn's Famous 827 Seymour St
Oh my god, guys, it was delicious. And it fulfilled that black hole of foodlessness that I've been eating for since I got back.

The boytoy got a Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich thing with these delicious onion rings.

In conclusion, go. GOGOGO. It wasn't expensive for lunch either. Totally worth it.

Definitely a winner.
Check out the updated list here <3

SO, to complete the second mission, we went to Shoppers and finally found the essence.

high spirits, gleam in blue, walk on air, breakthrough, glamorous life
I can't wait to use these. Glamorous life reminds me of a red version China Glaze. High spirits I got because Ania got me excited and the blues and the red one because they were ones I was worried I would regret not buying in Italy. Breakthrough is absolutely one I haven't seem before (I'm becoming one of those) so I bought it.

There we go. Yesterday was super cool.

And today was cookies. I'm set. =)

I wanted to do a fabulous food post

but my I used my camera not my blackberry and forgot the cord today. Sad.

Instead, have some cookies.
We made ~90 cookies.
The last batch is in the oven. Maybe this is why the gym every day isn't helping....

ASBMF#7 Glitter Tips!!

Oh my god I have been so excited to do this one ever since I got those China Glaze Hunger Games polishes from Beauty Joint.

Drum roll please.....

Riveting + Electrify
Have I gone on about how much I freaking love this orange. LoveLove.

Here's even another picture!!

It matched my bracelets!
Augh, I love this so much. Love.

I feel this speaks for itself. =)

Hi guys! There is an ASBMF post but we're gonna start with this.

Julep Nessa + Del Sol Chicky on ring finger
I got my Red Angel plates in the mail (no pics, sorry) and so I tried some stamping. The idea was that I would have an invisible design until I was in the sun but I fail so hard at stamping. Also when I tried to take a picture of this this morning but when I tried to get my camera my clear topcoat went flying and shattered on the bus loop concrete. After that I just left it and went to the gym, where when I reached in my good thumb scraped against the mesh and took a chunk out.

I wanted to mention though, that they look really similar (especially between my index and ring finger) but that was just the lighting and Nessa is much much more saturated than the Del Sol. However, for stamping, they are nearly invisible enough to be perfect for my purposes. The image did appear in the sun amazingly.

In conclusion, I didn't get the good picture (really disappointing) and it was a very depressing day. I just peeled them all off and traded yellow for orange. It was a doomed yellow but I will try again when I have gotten the hang of stamping.

Another giveaway!

I'm a sexy fucking pirate
Also I'm going to re-upload this because I added to this in the hour more that we played (I acquired some superstitious amulet that I tied to the left belt, and the trailing scarves blowing over the shoulder. Also I have a list of items under that sword (three vials of Golden Lion blood! xD).

K so I'm having fun. I was super pissed off because Matt bailed, taking Ana, therefore Leah, therefore Red with him. If you weren't going to be available, just fucking say so, maybe not an hour before you're supposed to be there.

Anyway, I have to say I'm a lot more comfortable playing without Red. He's kind of loud in an obnoxious way, and I don't really trust him because of that whole fat thing when I was dating his brother. It makes me feel really uncomfortable playing a sexy character, or a character who maybe had to be a bit seductive to survive (those are the worlds we're playing in after all, wtf is equality in high fantasy?).

Anyway, we need more people. Anybody willing to come all the way out to Coquitlam? Branden's a hell of a storyteller.

Happy Birthday Robyn Baking!

Aquarium themed cupcakes! We found Swedish Fish, Blue Whales and Peach Penguins xD And Frogs, because I fucking love Frogs (the candy). Good ol' Betty Crocker!

ASBMF#6 Ombre!

This one was actually more fun than I thought it would be. It also took a bit of work!

I emptied out my modest collection and grouped everything by colour.

Then I ghetto-swatched (aka on cardboard).
I have a lot of green apparently!
This also made me really really want to use Julep Hayden >_< WANT. I was also really tempted at this point to do a multi-ombre or something and do stripes in stripes of ombre xD I stopped myself.

And chose purple! It actually looks really nice!!
Thumb to pinky~ Essence Dress For A Moment, Essence A Lovely Secret, Julep Charlotte, Essence Passion for Fashion, Julep Maggie

Btw, in case you haven't figured out from all the pictures of my right hand you get, I'm left-handed! FUN FACT.

See you for glitter tips! (HINT: China Glaaaaaaze~)

ASBMF#5 Rainbow After the Rain

HI! I'm writing this on my new Eee PC which I named Squeee. xD

Anyway, I'm back, and I did my nails.

I used a lot of colours.
I decided rainbows don't happen after rain, they happen during, so I painted my rainbow (Julep January, Golden Rose 176, Wet&Wild 423C, Essence Vive La Green, Essence Let's Get Lost, Essence Passion for Fashion), and then I put a glitter coat over it (Odille 49) and then I added a rain cloud at my cuticle with  Golden Rose 187. Viola. (I'll check all the names later)

This is my Europe haul (including the Julep box that came while I was gone)
I picked up a lot of Essence and some Golden Rose

And this is what was in my disappointing spring mystery box.
Julep January (double), Cuticle oil (double), Julep Pippa, Julep Melissa (triple) and Julep Hayden (actually glad I got this one). So no, I won't be ordering another one, and I wouldn't recommend it more than once. It seems nobody wants January (bright red creme) so they just keep tacking it onto mystery boxes and calling it whatever season's colour the box is for. Sad, Julep.

There we go.

Versatile Blogger Award

So I'm floored that somebody would actually want to award me for anything I write here but Hannah at Polished Prisms (whose fabulous spring challenge I'm slowly, slowly completing) nominated me after my April Showers nails =P

Weee! Thank you Hannah! You should go visit her, her nails are pretty amazing - and start and complete her challenge! It's really fun =D

The rules are:
1. Nominate 15 fellow bloggers who are relatively new to blogging
2. Let them know that you have nominated them.
3. Share 7 random facts about yourself.
4. Thank the bloggers who have nominated you.
5. Add the Versatile Blogger Award picture to your post

  1. I do have Nicole at Observations of a Wallflower. She posts a lot of really interesting things. Not often enough for sure though! POST MORE NICOLE.
  2. I have a friend going through art school who posts as Ellemar at Talking Bird. She's been busy but her art is fabulous.
  3. MY FRIEND ANIANIANIA STARTED A BLOG. Last month. And didn't tell me. MORE NAILS!
  4. Alyssa from Frugal Polish whose blog sings to my dirt-poor practical little heart and gives me hope of having pretty nails without spending $20 a bottle =D
  5. The Beauty Ninja is another fantabulous blogger with really nice swatches~ Get in on it!
  6. Valiantly Varnished has been blogging for a while it looks like, but doesn't have that many followers SOMEHOW. This blog is where I found the Connect The Dots dupe from AquaDaisy!

Seven random facts....
  1. I'm a university student studying cell biology. I've worked in retail from 16 years old and with my degree I hope to never talk to people again.
  2. My walls are my scrapbook. There's postcards, business cards from people I've bought from (Etsy mostly), photos, logos cut out from boxes, drawings and quotes from me and my friends, tickets from movies, planes, museums, and probably a lot of other stuff hiding in between. When I move out I'm taking it with me though it might get confined to a wall instead of all of them =P.
  3. I never delete anything I post. Even if I regret it, whatever I posted was true at the time and if I feel stupid for it, then it's going to stay to serve as a reminder to not do stupid things. I also tend to regret deleting the things I delete, so clearly my judgment on the matter isn't amazing. Therefore it stays.
  4. On that same note, I try very hard not to censor myself. That's why I'm sorry to people who are following this as a nail blog, because there's gonna be a lot of other junk that comes with it in subscribing to me. Sorry. It might be entertaining though. If you haven't noticed yet, I tend to spit fire.
  5. I love reading. Recommend me books! My favourite authors include Terry Pratchett (READ HIM), Anne McAffrey, Mercedes Lackey, Jacqueline Carey, Anne Rice and Neil Gaiman (READ HIM TOO).
  6. I've had some form of online blog for about 8 years. It's really painful to read the angsty crap I used to write, but see 3. x_x;
  7. I listen to all types of music, and I am ashamed to say it includes Ke$ha and Katy Perry. However, I will happily admit to loving Taylor Swift, Anberlin, Hot Chelle Rae, Blink-182, Arctic Monkeys, Keane, Maroon 5, Our Lady Peace, Owl City, and Three Days Grace. Lost in You by Three Days Grace is the song that reminds me of my boyfriend ("our song"?) because whenever it comes on the radio we both sing along without thinking about it.
That was hard. (It took me two days).
